Tips to Boost Your Marvel Rivals Gameplay

Here are some solid tips for improving your gameplay in Marvel Rivals across roles, mechanics, and strategy.

Choose and use Team-Up Abilities wisely

Many heroes have special synergies when paired (anchors + beneficiaries). For example, one anchor will grant a bonus like unlimited ammo to another hero.

When you pick a hero, check if your teammate can pair with a Team-Up that benefits your play style.

Communicate this early (in champ select) so teammates align.

"Selecting heroes that share Team‐Ups ... can be very important, as they provide a team with yet another tool to win fights."

Prioritise the objective over kills

The game modes (Domination, Convoy, etc) reward capturing points / escorting payloads rather than only eliminating opponents.

A kill is good, but if you overextend chasing it and lose the objective, you're hurting your team.

Be aware: if you're out of position chasing a kill, you might give up map control or be easily flanked.

Master positioning, cover & map awareness

Good cover usage is vital. Use walls/corners to reduce exposure, peek safely, and avoid being caught in open.

High ground and favourable angles give you vision and control. Especially useful for ranged heroes.

Know the map's destructible elements and how they change cover options.

Ultimate & Team-Up timing matters

Don't just use ultimates as soon as you get them. Coordinate with your team so you maximise their impact (e.g., after enemy Ult used or near objective).

Also watch enemy ultimates: if you know an opponent can use theirs soon, reposition or use your counter-ability.

Build flexibility in hero pool & roles

Being locked to one favourite hero or role can hurt if the team comp demands otherwise. Learn at least 2 heroes per major role (DPS/Duelist, Support/Strategist, Vanguard/Tank).

Even if you're best at one hero, switching when needed shows team awareness and increases win-rate.

Communicate and sync with your team

Good teamwork wins more than solo mechanical skill. Share cooldowns, call out enemy positions, ping the map.

If no mic: use the ping wheel or text chat. Clear signals like "Ult ready", "Payload incoming", "Need heal" help a lot.

Learn your hero's specific mechanics & matchups

Each hero has quirks: movement tools, special combos, weaknesses. For instance, if a hero has great mobility, use it to flank.

Spend practice time learning input and timing for your hero's abilities rather than only playing matches.

Review your gameplay and improve incrementally

Watch your own matches or VODs (if possible) to identify mistakes (poor positioning, bad ultimate timing, staying too long after respawn, etc).

Focus on your personal improvement rather than blaming teammates.

Role-Specific Focus (for clarity)

Duelist / DPS:

Prioritise favourable angles, flank routes, and avoid being the first to engage alone.

Use high ground and cover; use mobility to dodge enemy fire/ultimates.

Vanguard / Tank:

Lead push on objective, absorb focus fire, draw enemy attention.

Don't overextend without your team—if you go in alone and die, you leave your team vulnerable.

Strategist / Support:

Keep track of healer targets, deploy gadgets optimally, peel for your DPS.

Protect key teammates and coordinate Team-Up abilities with them.
