Nappa (ナッパ Nappa) is a middle-class Saiyan warrior from Planet Vegeta and Vegeta's fighting partner. Before the destruction of Planet Vegeta, Nappa was the commander of the Saiyan army and the assistant/companion of the young Prince Vegeta. After the annihilation of the race, he, Vegeta and Raditz, became soldiers directly under Frieza and led him to Earth.

Nappa is a secondary antagonist in Legend of Vegeta.

Napa is a tall, muscular man. Although his Saiyan genes make him appear to be in his late 30s, Nappa was roughly 50 years old when he first appeared in the series. He now looks exactly as he did when he died, although his youthful physique shows that he was slightly thinner. He appears in combat armor, complete with broad shoulder, hip and crotch protectors, black bodysuit, fingerless armored gloves, and armored boots. While he tends to wear the same style of armor, he also appears in many different colors, such as dark blue and beige, black and brown, and black and beige. His elaborate mustache tends to change with every part of his life. As in his thirties, his beard is smaller than it is now; throughout the Saiyan saga, Nappa's beard is slightly larger, longer, and split into two (note that he sometimes shaves his facial hair ), then completely regrows within a year's Earth radius. In Dragon Ball GT, Nappa's skin tone was given a distinct reddish-pink hue. His beard became slightly thicker and noticeably longer. It also split in half again, but with noticeable peach fuzz in the middle, indicating that he shaved it off at some point during his death and that it grew back. In Dragon Ball Z: Bardock - Father of Goku, he has hair (although it looks like a vamp and doesn't have any sideburns). Like most Saiyans, Nappa wears a navigator.

Nappa has a very destructive personality and likes to destroy things to the extreme. Upon arriving on Earth, the first thing Vegeta asked was if he could destroy the city. When taking time off to wait for Goku, Vegeta allows him to destroy any number of things and places (anime only) as long as he doesn't waste enough energy to break a sweat. Napa went on to destroy the entire naval fleet and conduct air strikes, shooting down several planes and helicopters before razing a large number of ships. Despite this, he usually congratulates his victims when they use attacks that come close to killing him, as he did when he congratulated Tian Xinhan for using the Three Spirit Beam to shatter his suit, stating that if his target Better yet, he would have to seriously injure him.

Napa also has a very arrogant personality and likes to play tricks on his opponents. Nappa is somewhat of a sadist, and his sadism towards Goku is even stronger, stating multiple times that he intends to kill Goku's friends and son before his eyes in revenge for his betrayal of his race (by siding with the Earthlings, instead On the side of Earthlings). Saiyan). He tends to fight first and uses his muscles more than his brain. However, when someone scratches him or scars him, his great self immediately disappears, and as a result he decides to kill them slowly and painfully. In this case, he is arrogant to the point where he believes his appearance should remain intact (although in the Japanese version, his anger towards Krillin is due to his pride being wounded at the hands of a much weaker opponent aggravated by the blow)). But when he loses patience with anyone, he will still eliminate them as quickly as possible.

Many times, he allowed his anger to get the best of him, becoming extremely angry, agitated, and unable to think straight, causing Vegeta to constantly remind him or, in some cases, order him to calm down. When Vegeta scolds Nappa for behaving inappropriately or not listening, Nappa apologizes to Vegeta, usually in a somewhat scared state, and then proceeds to claim that he wasn't thinking clearly, expressing his respect for Vegeta . In the Japanese version, Nappa usually refers to Vegeta informally. In "Bardock - Goku's Father", when Vegeta orders Nappa to "stop licking his shoes", it is implied that this is Vegeta's preference. However, when he scolded Vegeta, he always addressed him in very polite terms, as one would normally address one's boss. It was only when Vegeta decided to kill him that Nappa gave up all respect for him, even calling Vegeta a "dirty rat" (although only in the Ocean dub) and challenging him in Dragon Ball GT .
