Blue Exorcist Season 4: Gets Fall 2024 Release Window!

It’s 2024, and Rin Okumura is ready to take down his own brother, Yukio Okumura, in the fall. Confused? Well, your favorite exorcist is gearing up for their return with Blue Exorcist Season 4. That’s right! It’s been only four months, and we are pleased with the jaw-dropping news of the year. But wait! Will this season be the final season? There are plenty of questions running back of the fans’ minds. But you can breathe a sigh of relief. That’s because we have got you covered. So, without further ado, let’s see what the anime has in store for us.

Based on Kazue Kato’s manga series, Blue Exorcist revolves around Rin Okumura, who discovers that he is Satan’s son. After using the demon-slaying sword Kurikara, Rin gains a demonic appearance and decides to become stronger to destroy Satan. In order to find a new direction, Rin enrolls in the Japanese branch of the True Cross Order to polish his skills. After his enrollment, he discovers that his younger twin, Yukio, is a veteran exorcist and one of the teachers in his academy. With his brother’s help, Rin works on developing new skills to destroy his father.

Blue Exorcist Season 4 Is Back!

At present, Blue Exorcist is one of the best animes, and there’s no denying that. The series first debuted back in April 2011 and made an uproar in the anime industry. However, fans remained disheartened after the second season when the anime committee announced nothing about Blue Exorcist. Nearly seven years later, the anime surprised everyone with its third season. The best part was the third season, which began with the Shimane Illuminati Saga arc. Fans had been waiting for this arc, and finally, Blue Exorcist returned with the mega arc.

The third season began straight to the action-packed scenes, leaving fans on the edge of their seats. While the third season gave justice to the beginning of the Shimane Illuminati Saga, fans were delighted with another positive news. With the third season’s conclusion, the anime committee announced that the show would return with another season. That means Blue Exorcist Season 4 is on the cards. That’s right.

Official Announcement

During a Blue Stage for Blue Exorcist on March 24, 2024, at Anime Japan 2024, the voice actors revealed that Blue Exorcist Season 4 was happening. Nobuhiko Okamoto, Jun Fukuyama, Kana Hanazawa, and Eri Kitamura, who voice Rin Okumura, Yukio Okumura, Shiemi, and Izumo Kamiki, respectively, shared the news via a motion visual. The news undoubtedly is hotly anticipated, and fans have been looking forward to it.

With such amazing news, fans are delighted with another jaw-dropping update. That event further confirmed that the fourth season will be split into two cours. Yes, you read that right! The anime will return with two cours. The first cour will return as a part of the Fall 2024 anime schedule, while the second cour information has yet to be disclosed. Since a lot has happened in the previous season, we expect Blue Exorcist Season 4 will bring more shocking updates to our table.

The Teaser Trailer Is Out

As soon as the anime committee revealed that the fourth season was on its way, it also dropped the first teaser trailer. Well, fans have been waiting for this update. While the trailer didn’t reveal much about Blue Exorcist Season 4, it did suggest what fans can expect from the next season. The key poster depicts Rin Okumura and his brother Yukio Okumura standing against each other. Rin is standing on the right side, holding his Koma sword, while his brother is standing on the left side with his gun.

The trailer further hints that the Exwire leader is injured. While the reason behind this animosity remains unclear, the saga is going to explore Yukio’s conflict. He will doubt his identity, which will create more complications between the brothers. Meanwhile, the trailer teases that the Exwire team and its leader, Rin, will confront the most challenging situation. The official X account of the anime has revealed that the Blue Exorcist Season 4 will continue with the Shimane Illuminati Saga’s event. That means Rin’s fate will be explored.

Blue Exorcist Season 4: Production Update

Shortly after the renewal news, the anime committee confirmed that Blue Exorcist Season 4 had undergone production. The anime typically takes a year or two to finish the production work. Since Blue Exorcist Season 4 entered production earlier this year, it might have already wrapped up the filming of the first part. As for the second part, nothing is known to this date (August 2024).

The first part is subtitled Blue Exorcist: Beyond The Snow Saga (Yuki no Hate-hen), while the second part is subtitled The Blue Night Saga. While the production details have remained under wraps, the anime committee hasn’t yet shared which studio will return. According to the official announcement, the entire third-season staff will return.

This means Daisuke Yoshida will return as the series director. Toshiya Ono will join as the scriptwriter, Yurie Oochigashi as the character designer, Kohta Yamamoto and Hiroyuki Sawano as the music composer. The production committee has also revealed the opening theme song of Beyond The Snow Saga. As per the source, Reol will perform the opening theme song, titled “Re Rescue.” Meanwhile, Yobahi will perform the ending theme song, “Tsurara.”

Will Studio VOLN Return?

A-1 Pictures produced the first two seasons of Blue Exorcist. However, the studio later didn’t return with more seasons of the anime instead the third season was animated by Studio VOLN. The studio house was founded in August 2014 and created several stellar animes within this span. So far, the animation studio has animated Ushio & Tora, Back Arrow, and Idol Incidents.

While the animation studio returned with the Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga, it remains unclear whether it will return for another season. As of now, nothing is known about the studio house. The official website of the studio house hasn’t shared anything about Blue Exorcist Season 4. Thus, whether Studio VOLN will return for the next season remains unclear. However, since the entire staff has returned, we expect Studio VOLN to return.

Blue Exorcist Season 4: What Will Happen Next?

The third season’s finale began with Rin and his friends working on their way to deal with the Impure King. While the epic fight created more chaos among Rio and his group, they successfully defeated the Impure King. After this mega defeat, the team returned to their daily lives at True Cross Academy. The anime then started at a slow pace, focusing on the main characters’ everyday lives. But things became more complicated when the Knights of the True Cross received a cryptic message.

The Knights received multiple consultations about demons because strange activities started occurring across the world. While the Knights worked on their way to eliminating the demonic powers from the world, Rin and his Exwires members appeared busy dealing with the mysterious events plaguing the school. As the anime unfolded, it showcased that things turned more dramatic when Lucifer, the King of Light and Commander in Chief of the Illuminati, appeared in the school.

Lucifer’s entry turns out to be the most dramatic one as he declares war on the Knights of the True Cross. Since the third season ended with the declaration of war, Blue Exorcist Season 4 will pick the pace from the Illuminati Saga. The Knights will join hands to fight against Lucifer, who aims to resurrect Satan and the realm of demons. Meanwhile, Rin and his group will fight against the odds to clear the True Cross complication.

The fourth season will see the return of all the main characters as well as the voice artists. So we can expect the following artists to return:

Will Blue Exorcist Season 4 Be The Final Season?

You can rest assured! That’s because Blue Exorcist Season 4 isn’t the final season of the series. The anime is based on the manga series written and illustrated by Kazue Kato. It was started serializing in April 2009 in Shueisha’s Shonen manga magazine Jump Square. As of June 2024, the manga is collected in 31 tankobon volumes. Since the manga series status is ongoing, ample source material is left to be covered.

The fourth season focuses on Beyond The Snow, while the second part focuses on the Blue Night Saga. Since the manga is currently exploring the “Of One Cloth” arc, we can safely say that the show can return with two or more seasons. So, fans won’t have to fret, as the series won’t end like this. The fourth season will start with Chapter 92 of Volume 20. It hasn’t yet shared how many chapters it will cover, but we can safely say that it might explore three to four volumes.

Blue Exorcist Season 4 Release Date

The fourth season is ready to rock your world sooner rather than later. During the Anime Japan 2024, the anime committee revealed that Blue Exorcist Season 4 will be split into two parts. The first part is set to release on October 6, 2024. Meanwhile, the second cour, “The Blue Night Saga,” will be released in January 2025. Anime News / Why Bocchi The Rock! Season 2 Return Is Inevitable?
« Last post by Taniara on October 09, 2024, 06:54:33 AM »
Why Bocchi The Rock! Season 2 Return Is Inevitable?

It’s been two years since we last saw Bocchi The Rock! on our screen. With its impressive narration and stellar visuals, the anime enchanted many hearts and became one of the most-watched anime of the year. Despite its great performance, it remains unclear when Bocchi The Rock! Season 2 will be released. Will it return this year? Well, fans are curious to see their favorite Bocchi-chan back on their screen. But it looks like they have to wait for that.

Based on an underrated manga series of the same name, Bocchi The Rock! follows the journey of socially awkward Hitori Goto. Due to her nature, it becomes hard for her to make new friends. However, her admiration for guitar and desire to be a part of a music band helps her to come out of her shell. Things start becoming fruitful for her when she meets a girl named Nijika Ijichi, who offers her to join their newly formed Kessoku Band.

Bocchi The Rock! Season 2: Is It Renewed Yet?

Unfortunately, not! The first season of Bocchi The Rock! breathed the first air on December 25, 2022. Shortly after its debut, the series received massive popularity. It gained a positive reception from the audience as well as the critics. Not only this, but the anime was also liked by every demo of people. It garnered strong 8.3 stars out of 10 on IMDb , 8.8 out of 10 on MyAnimeList, and 4.9 out of 5 on Crunchyroll. Not only this, but many also called the series worth watching.

Bocchi The Rock! Season 2 Renewed
Crunchyroll

Despite being highly popular, the series hasn’t received a second season. Two years have already passed, and there hasn’t been an official renewal announcement for Bocchi The Rock! Season 2. That makes things more complicated. That’s because the show is highly popular and still hasn’t received another season. While many ask for the proper reason, the studio house has remained mum about its decision. Some believe the series has been shelved. Why not?

It’s been almost two years, and CloverWorks has yet to make an official announcement. So, will it mark the end of the series? Many questions have surfaced on the back of the fans’ minds. However, it remains unclear when we will get a chance to see Bocchi The Rock! Season 2.

Bocchi The Rock! Receives A Follow-Up Movie

Instead of returning with Bocchi The Rock! Season 2, CloverWorks surprised its fans with a follow-up movie adaptation. The film was announced in late May 2023 and split into two parts. According to the official announcement, the two parts were titled “Re:” and “Re: Re.” Both parts have already been aired in Japanese theatres on June 7 and August 9, 2024. The official reports state that the compilation film has already become a major success.

Bocchi The Rock! season 2 or movie
Crunchyroll

On the opening weekend, the first film collected over 218 million yen (approx $1.48 million). Thus, it has marked the biggest-ever follow-up movie of the year. In fact, the series has surpassed many popular anime series. Its total domestic gross crossed 640 million yen ($4.35 million). The first film also received first place, according to Kogyo Tsushin. As for the second recap film, it ranked sixth in its debut week. Despite that, the film performed incredibly well. The second movie earned 250 million yen ($1.7 million) in its first four days of release.

Chances For Bocchi The Rock! Season 2

Since the first season was a massive hit, the production house returned with two follow-up movies, which performed incredibly well at the Japanese box office. As mentioned above, the films surpassed many popular anime franchises. Thus, the two movies’ massive success proves why the studio house should return with Bocchi The Rock! Season 2. However, it’s been two years, and nothing has been known about the second season.

But since the second recap movie, Bocchi The Rock! Re: Re, aired on August 9, 2024, there’s a possibility that the official source will soon announce the second season. Typically, the anime renewal is based on the reception vs. cost graph. We have already seen that both movies did well on the performance front and are commercial hit series. This makes sense why CloverWorks will return with Bocchi The Rock! Season 2.

But Why Bocchi The Rock! Season 2 Is Not On The Cards?

Despite the anime series remaining one of the most-watched anime of the year, it hasn’t yet received Bocchi The Rock! Season 2. Well, initially, nobody thought the series would receive instant success after its debut. That’s because the manga isn’t that popular compared to the success of the anime. Since the source material is underrated, many believe the series will face a downfall. Now that the anime is a blockbuster hit, many believe a second season is more plausible.

Bocchi The Rock! Season 2 will it return
Crunchyroll

Another reason for the delay is that the first season’s director, Keiichiro Saito, is currently busy with other projects. He is popularly known for directing several hit animes like Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. Since Saito is currently busy with other projects, it won’t be easy for him to work on Bocchi The Rock! Season 2. Another big reason for the delay is CloverWorks, the studio house behind the anime. The studio house is known for creating 3 – 4 animes per year.

Since its hands are full at this moment, it doesn’t seem like the studio house will return to animate the second season of Bocchi The Rock! at least this year. As of now, CloverWork is busy animating The Elusive Samurai, I May Be A Guild Receptionist, Unite Un! Uni: Birth, and Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc. It’s also busy filming anime movies like Fureru and Grotesque. Considering this, it seems like Bocchi The Rock! Season 2 will face great delay.

Bocchi The Rock! Season 2: What Will Happen Next?

The first season’s finale began with a concert where Bocchi’s guitar got out of tune. However, she somehow managed to pull through with Kita’s help. While everyone played their part brilliantly, Kita decided to give Bocchi the spotlight. However, she panicked, and due to her social anxiety, she tried to stage dive into the crowd. Things didn’t work well for her, and she injured her face. But after recovering from the concert, Bocchi’s father revealed that he had monetized her account and gave her the money he received from the ad revenue.

Bocchi The Rock! Season 2 plot details
Crunchyroll

Later, with the help of her bandmates, she went to buy a new guitar. Things didn’t turn out well for her, as her social awkwardness created more problems. But she managed to buy a new guitar with Kita’s help. If Bocchi The Rock! Season 2 returns, then it will undoubtedly focus on Bocchi’s struggle to overcome her social anxiety. With Kita’s help, things will become somewhat easy. It will also focus on her self-growth as an artist and a person.

Is There Enough Source Material?

As mentioned above, the anime is based on Aki Hamaji’s manga series Bocchi the Rock! It was serialized in December 2017 in Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Max magazine. Since the series is ongoing, it doesn’t seem like there will be a scarcity of source material. As of now, it has been collected in six tankobon volumes. The first season covered only 20 chapters, which is one and a half volumes. Likewise, the movie has covered only one volume per part.

So, considering this, there are three more volumes left to be covered. Unlike other anime, which cover three to four volumes, Bocchi The Rock! only covers one volume per season, giving it ample source material to delve into. So, the second season could return. Another reason for its return is the anime’s success, which is highly reflected in its manga sales. As of January 2024, the manga had a total of 3 million copies in circulation. That’s great news, and this proves why the show should return.

If the show returns with another season, it will definitely bring back the Kessoku Band members, including the socially awkward Hitori aka Bochhi. These are the following characters whom you can see in Bocchi The Rock! Season 2:

  • Hitori Goto/ Bocchi – Yoshino Aoyama

  • Nijika Ijichi – Sayumi Suzushiro

  • Ryo Yamada – Saku Mizuno

  • Ikuyo Kita – Ikumi Hasegawa

  • Kikuri Hiroi – Sayaka Senbongi

Crunchyroll

As of now, it remains unclear when Bocchi The Rock! Season 2 will be out. That’s because the series hasn’t yet been renewed. However, considering its excellent manga sales and the follow-up movie performance, it seems like the second season is inevitable. Considering this, we believe the show will soon receive a second season. If it gets renewed this year, it will take 12 to 18 months to wrap up the production. So, considering the timeframe, we can expect Bocchi The Rock! Season 2 will be released sometime in the fall of 2025. This is all for now. Stay with The Anime Daily for more such updates.
