Doraemon (ドラえもん) Fujiko f. is a Japanese manga series created and drawn by Fujio. The series first serialized in December 1969. Chapters were included in 45 short stories published by Shogakukan from 1974 to 1996. The story revolves around Doraemon, an earless robot cat who travels to the 21st century to help a boy named Doraemon. Nobita.
Nobi Nobita is a ten-year-old Japanese boy who is kind and honest, but lazy, unlucky, weak, has bad grades and is not good at sports. One day, Doraemon from the 21st century is sent back in time by Nobita's future grandson Semizu Nobi to take care of Nobita so that his descendants can have a better life. Doraemon has a rectangular bag that contains tools, inventions and gadgets from the future that can help Nobita when faced with problems. Although Doraemon is a robot cat, he became afraid of mice after an incident where a robot mouse bit off his ear. This is why Doraemon lost his original yellow color and turned blue, out of sadness.
Nobita has three main friends: Takeda Atsuda (nicknamed Gian), Hozo Ogawa (Gian's assistant), and Shizuka Minamoto, Nobita's best friend and lover. Jian is strong, leader and dominant and loyal to his friends. Sunio is a rich and spoiled boy who uses his friendship with Gian to gain respect from his other classmates. Shizuka is a gentle and kind girl who often plays with Nobita. Nobita is obsessed with Shizuka; She is his future wife (Nobita's future wife was actually Ji-An's sister). Although Jian and Sunio are Nobita's friends, they often bully and abuse him. Nobita will usually use Doraemon's gadgets to fight them, but Nobita has a tendency to deviate from using the gadgets (or if they are stolen by Jian and Sunxiong), usually with unintended consequences for him and the others.
Besides Jian, Hozo and Shizuka, Dorami and Hidetoshi Dekisugi are also recurring characters. Dorami is Doraemon's sister, Daesugi is a gifted student, and as Shizuka's best friend, he often arouses Nobita's jealousy.
