The Seven Deadly Sins is a manga and anime series known for its action, comedy, and romance. It takes place in a world resembling the European Middle Ages and involves a group of powerful knights known as the Seven Deadly Sins. Powerful magic, non-humans and talking animals exist in the basic setting of Britannia and its kingdoms. The story takes place ten years after the Holy War and follows Princess Elizabeth as she searches for the now-missing Seven Deadly Sins in an attempt to reclaim the kingdom, which is ruled by the corrupt Holy Knights. Disbanded, exiled, and labeled as traitors for plotting to overthrow the Lion Kingdom, the Seven Deadly Sins are rumored to still roam the lands of Britannia. After locating and uniting with all the Sins, the ensuing battles lead to devastating results as the bonds between the Sins, Elizabeth, the Holy Knights, fairies, goddesses, and the Demon Clan are tested in a seemingly never-ending battle for peace and justice.
The Seven Deadly Sins - Season 1
Elizabeth, the third princess of the Lion Kingdom, sets out on a journey to find the Seven Deadly Sins. Ravaged by hunger and exhaustion, she stumbles upon the Boar's Hat Tavern and meets its owner, Melodias, and Hawk, the talking pig. To her surprise, Meliodas turns out to be the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins, who agrees to help her search for the remaining six sins.
In the dense, misty forest of White Dreams, they encounter the first sin, the serpent's sin of envy, Diane, along with the Holy Knight Gilthunder. During the two Sins' fight with Gilthunder, they trick him into believing that the other Sins are dead, when instead they believe the opposite and are on a journey to find the others. Happy and enamored with Meliodas' return, Diane decides to follow him to free Ban, the Fox's Sin of Greed, who is being held in Bast Prison.
After a skirmish against the Holy Knights' Strange Fang Squad, Meliodas is left unconscious from his injuries and is being treated in the city of Dalmari. Left alone without Meliodas' help, Diane faces off against the Holy Knights of Freaktooth alone to reach the prison, leaving Elizabeth to care for Meliodas, who suddenly awakens as Golgius of Freaktooth grabs his sword. Around the same time, Ban breaks out of his prison cell when he learns Meliodas' name. He easily gets rid of the prison guards and reunites with Meliodas and the group.
The heroes then arrive at a ruined city near the Necropolis, where the King, Grizzly's Sin of Sloth, is rumored to be. The group enters the Necropolis thanks to Ban's memory of Elaine, King's late sister, while Guila, the Holy Knight, secretly follows close behind. King appears and starts fighting Ban for killing Elaine and destroying their home, the Fairy Forest. This causes Ban to remember his previous encounter with Elaine while trying to obtain immortality from the Fountain of Youth, only to fall in love with her instead. Elaine's spirit lies in the Necropolis and she finally reveals herself to King to ask him to protect Ban.
After King reconciles with Ban, the group sets out to find Diane's Sacred Treasure, powerful weapons possessed by the Seven Sins, but ends up participating in the Weisel Battle Festival. They encounter Holy Knights like Jericho and Guila, along with the mighty Helbram.
The Sins discover the truth behind the New Generation of Holy Knights after taking Gowther, The Goat's Sin of Lust, on their journey. Merlin from The Seven Deadly Sins, the boar's sin of gluttony, also appears, revealing himself to be the mentor of Arthur, the young king of the Kingdom of Camelot. In the final battle, Great Holy Knight Hendrickson reveals that he gained demonic powers by studying the gray and red demons of earth. Another great holy knight, Dreyfuss, switches sides afterwards and helps Sins against Hendrickson, only to be killed. Elizabeth is revealed to be an apostle of a goddess, her healing powers lying dormant the entire time. Hawk sacrifices himself to protect both Elizabeth and Meliodas, but manages to survive, albeit in an already shrunken form. In the end, Meliodas, with the help of Gowther and the Holy Knights, was able to prevail against Hendrickson.
Hendrickson disappears from the battle, and with that threat to the Lions gone, King Bartra thanks Sins for saving the kingdom and protecting Elizabeth. He frees the Sins from their status as traitors, and the group spends time restoring the Lions before planning to embark on new adventures.
