What about Dragon Ball Z

My understanding of "Dragon Ball Z" is very similar to that of most people who grew up in the 90s. It was on Toonami, which felt weird at first, but it attracted me because of the story, the characters, the music, and the fact that it was the most hyped thing ever. Soon I started recording episodes of the show on VHS. I have a VHS set of SLPs, so I can fit about 18 episodes on one VHS tape. It started with "Ocean Dub" and then evolved into what we know today as "Funimation Dub". I watched this show religiously. With his track record, I would watch every episode again when my brother came back from gymnastics. Then I would watch the episode a third time with my friends from school.

When I say in the title that this show is "most impressive," I mean it in two ways. The first is its global impact. Anime has finally taken over the American market. He had previously tried his hand at Astro Boy, Speed Racer and the great films of Hayao Miyazaki. But all of these are considered niche markets and don't hold much promise. Dragon Ball Z changed that. Combined with Cartoon Network's primetime Toonami block, these commercials and TV spots are some of the best you'll ever see. Take a look at Yahoo's most searched content from 1998 to 2004 and you'll see that Dragon Ball Z is consistently in the top ten. Dragon Ball Z started a revolution in anime that is still being felt today. It inspired television, movies, and even video games. Even filmmakers like the Wachowskis and Michael B. Jordan can credit the show with their inspiration.

Another way the show was most impactful was on a personal level. I have watched this show more than I have watched any show in my life. I've seen 3 different English dubs of this show. Check out all the different movies and other TV shows that come with it. I mostly play video games and read comics. Through his focus on fighting and training, he inspired me to lose weight and get in shape. The way the characters overcome any challenge they encounter inspires me to work harder.

Okay, I digress. I present all of this to show the impact the show had on the world and on individuals. It's impossible for me to give a completely objective review of this show. Effects aside, how does the show hold up? very good. One of the best. Granted, there are some animation errors, looping animations, filler that breaks the rhythm, and the Hush Saga (final 6 seasons) is really long. But I don't care. For me, this show is a 10 out of 10 and everything I wanted it to be.
