Previously, in Blue Exorcist Season 4 Episode 5, Hachiroto dragged Shura to the bottom of the lake with him. The scene shortly cuts back to the latter’s childhood, when Young Shura was under Shiro’s care. She lived happily with him as she finally let go to the orphanage. However, her life took a dramatic turn when Shiro abandoned her to raise Rin and Yukio. Back to the present, Rin dived into the lake to rescue Shura. He used Satan’s flames to explode the Dragon God’s heads.

However, the Dragon God’s regenerative abilities made it hard for Rin to handle things alone. Yukio Okumura and Shima were in a tough spot, and Hachiroto made things more challenging for the former as he strangled the life out of Yukio. Hearing his screams, Shura returned to consciousness and used her sword to escape Hachiroto’s grasp. With Shura’s help, Rin managed to defeat the Dragon God. The episode ended with Yukio suffering grave injuries and was later shifted to the True Cross General Hospital. He was advised to bed rest for two months, which frustrated him.
