Compared to the brooding plot of its predecessor, this "Z Gundam" sequel feels lighter at times, almost funnier. For example, in the second episode, the main character Judou tries to help Yazan Gable by throwing an orange at Ashta Argama. But in the same episode, when Yazan kills the technician Saegusa, Judau attempts to pilot a Zeta Gundam to go after Yazan, but fights very badly in the first battle. The second half of the show features a more serious opening theme song, "Silent Voices," as the tone becomes more solemn.
As a sequel to "Mobile Suit Z Gundam," the drama follows the final episode of "Mobile Suit Z Gundam," once again telling the story of a religious warship of the Anti-Earth United Group (AEUG) to battle Captain Brett Noah's teenage- Recruits a group of buffaloes, led by loud-mouthed but powerful rookie Judu Ashtar, to pilot the mobile squad A Gamma and now returning Zeta Gundams, Gundam MK-IIs, and Hyakushiki with a massive lineup of ZZ Gundams The name stands for Team Gundam. So this became the first of many Gundam series where the Gundam mobile suits regularly fought alongside each other. The Axis Wars culminate in Part Three.
