Fullmetal Alchemist (Japanese: 鋼の錬金術師, Hepburn: Hagane no Renkinjutsushi, lit. "Alchemist of Steel") is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa. It was serialized in Square Enix's shōnen manga anthology magazine Monthly Shōnen Gangan between July 2001 and June 2010; the publisher later collected the individual chapters in 27 tankōbon volumes. The steampunk world of Fullmetal Alchemist is primarily styled after the European Industrial Revolution. Set in a fictional universe in which alchemy is a widely practiced science, the series follows the journey of two alchemist brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, who are searching for the philosopher's stone to restore their bodies after a failed attempt to bring their mother back to life using alchemy.

Fullmetal Alchemist takes place in the fictional country of Amestris (アメストリス, Amesutorisu). In this world, alchemy is one of the most-practiced sciences; alchemists who work for the government are known as State Alchemists (国家錬金術師, Kokka Renkinjutsushi) and are automatically given the rank of major in the military. Alchemists have the ability, with the help of patterns called transmutation circles, to create almost anything they desire. However, when they do so, they must provide something of equal value in accordance with the Law of Equivalent Exchange. The only things alchemists are forbidden from transmuting are humans and gold. There has never been a successful human transmutation; those who attempt it lose a part of their body, and the result is an inhuman mass. Attemptees are confronted by Truth (真理, Shinri), a pantheistic and semi-cerebral God-like being who tauntingly regulates all alchemy use, and whose nigh-featureless appearance is relative to the person with whom Truth converses; it is frequently claimed and believed that Truth is a personal God who punishes the arrogant.

That being said, the video is great quality but the audio is kind of weak and tinny. With earbuds it is much better than just using the TV speakers. Overall, not bad considering the price.

    Probably the best copy I've seen of an out of something no longer officially released
    The discs work fine; Although, I understand it is a boot-leg due to the black back of the disc. It's still the best bootleg I have seen. I have been looking for a low priced blu ray of the original 2003 series for a long time, and I'm glad I finally have it!

    We do realize this isn't genuine but it's a damn good version of the real thing!! Original art work, great look and feel to case and Discs though the black does slightly give it away. The video is perfect, the audio could be a little louder but the craftsmanship of this B00tleg is amazing!! I'd buy more just like it of our other loved but overpriced or impossible to find series for sure and wish I were this skilled. Cannot find this title for anywhere near the price if it can be found at all. So more than happy with this purchase, thank you!!!

    This is one of my favorite series. Two brothers in a world much like our own, where science and alchemy are used at a level resembling magic. To this day it's difficult to find such compelling characters with such endearing relationships in a world so familiar but with such unique elements. Our heroes use skill and strategy over brute force and can still suffer consequences and loss in their struggles. Even with the other more manga-loyal adaptation "Brotherhood," this take is worth a watch.

    One of the best Animes ever if not the best.
    One of my favorite Animes! I was super stoked to find it so cheap. It has been taken off of all streaming platforms, and I wanted to share this wonderful series with my boyfriend whom is new to Anime. Unfortunately we haven't broken into it yet. I'm impatient so we started the Brotherhood series first and are almost done! Can't wait and now I own it forever!!!
