Will David Production Return To Produce The Series?

Since the series was announced, David Production has served as the studio house behind the series’ animation. The studio has produced the first two seasons of the series. David Production is a Japanese animation studio founded in September 2007. It was founded by the former Gonzo producers Koji Kajita and Taito Okiura. However, a source confirmed that David Production wouldn’t return to produce Fire Force Season 3.

Despite the studio house being behind the first two seasons, Studio Shaft is now expected to take over from David Production. Studio Shaft is a Japanese animation studio founded in 1975. Since then, the studio has released several masterpieces, including Hidamari Sketch, Sayonara, Monogatari, Zetsubou-Sensei, March Comes in Like a Lion, and Puella Magi Madoka Magica. While Digital Spy suggests that Studio Shaft will produce Fire Force Season 3, an official announcement hasn’t yet been made.

A source posted on X that neither David Production nor Studio Shaft will produce the third season. A new studio house will likely take over Fire Force Season 3. But nothing has been confirmed. However, one thing to note here is that David Production’s official website does suggest that they are currently working on Season 3 of Fire Force. Though the situation seems messed up, we expect David Production to return to animate the series. If this happens, we can expect Yuki Yase to return to the direction. Gakuto Haijima will return as the series scriptwriter, Kenichiro Suehiro as the music composer, and Hideyuki Morioka as the character designer.

Will The Fire Force Get Further Delay?

As mentioned above, whether David Production will return to animate Fire Force Season 3 remains unclear. Thus, there’s ambiguity as to whether the production house will return; if it won’t, then who will take over the production duty remains under wrap. In addition, typically, production takes 12 to 18 months. So, if a new production house joins the show, it will take almost a year to wrap it up. Besides this, such action-heavy shonen shows require a lengthy production period, like a couple of years or more.

Another major factor is the series’ lack of source material. A lot of material has already been adapted. This means the animation studio either has to wait to return with season 3 or create original anime material. However, since the anime has remained true to its source material, we can expect the series might wait to return. Fire Force is based on Atsushi Ohkubo’s manga series. It started serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine from September 2015 to February 2022. The manga has already wrapped up with 34 tankobon volumes, so there isn’t enough material left to cover. However, the first two seasons have covered the manga’s first 174 chapters, covering 20 tankobon volumes. That means two-thirds of the manga series has already been wrapped up. One thing to note here is that both seasons covered 11 volumes in total.

That means the third season will cover the same, covering almost 31 volumes. This means there’s enough source material to cover the third season of Fire Force. But it will mark the last batch of episodes of this season. So, even though the series has caught up with the manga, it seems like there’s sufficient source left to cover.

Danjon Meshi Season 2 is expected to cover half of the manga in its run. If the series follows the same pattern as the first season, then season 2 will cover two chapters per episode. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2: Is It Renewed?

Since the pilot season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End concluded on March 22, 2024, fans have been eager to see more of their favorite characters back on screen. Well, there’s no denying that the series received praise from the audience as well as the critics. That’s because it enchants anime lovers with its gripping narration and animation. However, it seems like fans have to wait a little longer to find out  Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 release date. That’s because the series has yet to be announced for the next season.

However, that doesn’t mean that it’s the end of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. Although the series hasn’t received season 2 yet, some optimistic hints suggest the anime will return. While many await when the streaming platform will announce Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2, we have bad news for you. The manga is on hiatus. There’s no denying that fans’ expectations of the anime series and manga are quite high because of its stellar visuals. Sadly, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga is among the many manga that are currently on break for Golden Week. Not only is the manga on break, but the official announcement also shared that the break will be indefinite. That means this can create problems for the sequel of the anime series.

Since the anime is an adaptation of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga, we smell bad news for the anime as well. But it isn’t the first time when the manga has gone on hiatus. Ever since the Golden Land arc, the manga series has repeatedly gone on hiatus numerous times. The series even went on break for two months at the beginning of the Goddess’ Monument arc. However, many believe that this break might affect the series’ popularity. That’s because it has recently gained a new height. There’s no denying that the series has gained worldwide popularity, but we believe this break will only help his growth, giving the illustrator more time to return with stellar visuals.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2: Production Status

As of now, nothing has been known about the series’ production status, nor has it been announced when Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 will come out. However, you don’t need to fret. Considering the “continuation” text, we expect the anime to have already undergone filming. This isn’t a rare thing in the anime world. It happens often, and we expect the same with Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. As for the production status, the pilot season took almost a year to conclude production. It’s a Japanese animation studio founded by the former Mushi Pro staff in 1972. Since then, it has dropped several A-list TV animes, films, and OVAs. Studio Madhouse is known for various exceptional animes like Wicked City, Black Lagoon, Death Note, One-Punch Man, Hunter X Hunter, and Overlord. While it’s highly possible that Studio Madhouse will return for season 2 of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, it’s currently busy.

The studio is currently working on upcoming animes, Trillion Game (set to be released in October 2024) and Orb: On the Movements of the Earth (will be released in 2024). Considering this, the studio house may start working on Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 sometime in the fall of 2024. It might undergo production sometime in 2025.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2: Plot Details

The pilot season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End covered the first seven volumes of the original source material. Well, as mentioned above, the series is an adaptation of a manga series. The anime has already covered the first four story arcs—however, there is no need to fret. At the time of writing, 13 volumes have already been published. That means there’s enough source material to be covered. However, one thing to note here is that the first season covered seven volumes.

So, it’s expected that Madhouse will cover the rest of the seven volumes in the second season. If that’s the case, then there isn’t sufficient material to be covered in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 unless Madhouse returns with a shorter season. Now, if we head to the second season’s story arc, Frieren and her team’s adventure was delayed due to mage exams. However, in the end, Fern received her First Class Mage certificate, and Frieren was banned.

Despite that, the party is ready to resume their journey. So, the second season will begin with their journey. The entire team will head to the Northern Kingdoms. But it holds the greatest danger, and they need to be more careful as they step into the demon-riddled lands. Can they make it safely? Only time will tell. But if we consider Studio Madhouse working on two brand new animes, the second season will likely not return this year. Further, the manga is on break. If Studio Madhouse waits for the 14th volume to return before starting production, it will start the production work sometime in 2025. However, as the series protagonist Riko and her group head to explore the next layer of the Abyss, fans couldn’t wait to see what happens next in Made In Abyss Season 3. Will it bring plenty of trouble down the road? Speculation has been running wild, and many believe the next run will bring more suffering. But it’s been a couple of years since the second season wrapped up. So, the question arises: Will there be Season 3 of Made In Abyss? Let’s find out!

Based on a Japanese manga series, Made In Abyss features the mystery surrounding the giant hole descending deep into the earth. While this Abyss holds greater mystery and challenges, Riko, an orphaned girl, decides to explore all the layers. She has heard stories from the White Whistles, the legendary Cave Raiders who had returned from the lowest regions of the Abyss. Among them was Riko’s mother, Lyza, who was presumed dead after she reached the “last descent” of the Abyss. However, the big question arises: Can Riko return? Especially since the Abyss bears a dangerous curse known as “the Curse of the Abyss.”

Made In Abyss Season 3 Is Officially Renewed!

Since Made In Abyss Season 2 concluded in September 2022, fans have been patiently waiting for the sequel of their favorite anime series. There’s no denying that the anime was a blockbuster hit as soon as it hit the screen. Interestingly, anime enthusiasts don’t have to wait that long now. Following the conclusion of the sophomore run, the production team announced that Made In Abyss Season 3 was happening. That’s right! The third season is on the cards. In a special event in Japan on January 15, 2023, the anime staff revealed the plans for the third season.

It confirmed that the third season, Golden City of Scorching Sun, had been greenlit. This has already sparked excitement among series fans. It’s a no-brainer why the production house has renewed the anime for another season. The anime was awarded Anime of the Year and Best Score at the 2nd Crunchyroll Anime Awards just after its debut, and the first season also won the 25th Spanish Manga Barcelona award in the Best Anime category. Meanwhile, the second season received nominations in several categories in the 7th Crunchyroll Anime Awards.

But Is There Enough Source Material?

While the anime received another season, fans are concerned about whether enough source material is left to be covered. Made In Abyss is an adaptation of the manga series written and illustrated by Akihiko Tsukushi. Although the series has been ongoing in Takeshobo’s Web Comic Gamma since 2012, it has 66 chapters collected in 12 tankobon volumes. The Volume 12 was published in Japan on July 31, 2023. It’s been a year since the manga is on hiatus. Thus, it remains unclear whether there is ample source material.

That is because, so far, the anime has covered up to Chapter 61. Since a total of 66 chapters are available at this moment, it doesn’t seem like there is enough source material. Made In Abyss Season 3 can only cover Chapters 61-66. That means the anime can return with only three episodes. The shortening of source material might be the main reason behind the delay in production. So fans have to wait until the mangaka returns with another volume.

Made In Abyss Season 3: Production Status

Just after the production committee announced that the anime is available for the third season, it confirmed that Made In Abyss Season 3 is in production. Although this is good news, the series won’t undergo production, at least now. As we have mentioned before, the source material isn’t sufficient. The lack of source material can create problems in the production process. That’s because the studio needs at least twenty or twenty-nine chapters to produce a full-fledged season.

Typically, Made in Abyss drops 12 episodes per season. The second season, Made in Abyss: The Golden City of Scorching Sun, was adapted from chapters 39-60, covering a total of 21 chapters. Meanwhile, the pilot season adapted up to 26 chapters. That’s not all! Made In Abyss returned with a feature film titled Made In Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul, which covered chapters 26-38. Thus, considering this, there is a lack of source material to return with Made In Abyss Season 3 production. But we expect that the problem will be resolved soon.

Will Kinema Citrus Return?

Since Made In Abyss was announced, Kinema Citrus has been the sole production company behind the series. The Japanese animation studio house was founded in March 2008, and since then, it has dropped several stellar animes, films, and OVAs. Some of its exceptional works include The Rising of the Shield Hero, Black Bullet, and Barakamon. While the series has returned with the first two seasons of Made In Abyss, it will likely return for Made In Abyss Season 3.

However, the production won’t start sooner. As we have mentioned, there isn’t enough source material. Further, the studio house behind the anime typically animates two animes yearly. It’s currently working on Cardfight!! Vanguard Divine Z and The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3. So, considering this, we don’t think that Kinema Citrus will soon start working on Made In Abyss Season 3.

If the studio house returns, then it’s safe to say that the staff members will also return. Masayuki Kojima will return to the directing seat, Hideyuki Kurata will return as the scriptwriter, and Kazuchika Kise will return as the character designer. Meanwhile, Australian artist Kevin Penkin will join the Made In Abyss Season 3 team as the music composer.

Made In Abyss Season 3: What To Expect Next?

The second season was a rollercoaster ride for the characters as well as the fans. Riko and her friends faced several challenges before reaching the sixth layer of the Abyss. It was undoubtedly an emotional moment between the characters as they bonded over their fair share of struggle. While the previous season highlighted the strong bond between the characters, it also hinted that more challenges were aligned on their way. Made In Abyss Season 3 will also bring new characters on the stage.

Now that Riko, Reg, and the rest of the friend circle are heading to enter the next layer of the Abyss, they will face more threats. Meanwhile, they’ll make new friends as they struggle to deal with the looming challenges. The anime has already been covered until Chapter 61, so we expect Made In Abyss Season 3 to explore from Chapter 62. It will focus on some poignant and intriguing elements while taking its fans to the world of Abyss.

The unique part of the anime is that each character has a diverse background, which helps them deal with the “Curse of the Abyss.” While many call it a fantastic series, the anime has surprised its fans over the years, making it more intriguing for the audience.

Made In Abyss Season 3: Release Date

Kinema Citrus has yet to announce the Made In Abyss Season 3 release date. It’s been a year since the third season was announced. However, neither the production house nor Crunchyroll has announced the release date of Season 3. Since the series has yet to undergo production, which takes at least 12 to 18 months to conclude, we expect the series to take longer to return.
