What early Pokémon to catch in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, some of the best early Pokémon to catch include Weedle → Beedrill, Pidgey → Pidgeot, Abra → Alakazam, and Shinx → Luxray. These provide strong type coverage, evolve quickly, and remain useful well into mid-game.

Recommended Early Pokémon

- Weedle (Route 1)
  - Evolves into Beedrill very quickly (level 10).
  - Offers early Bug/Poison coverage, useful against Grass-types.
  - Great for beginners who want a fast evolution to strengthen their team.

- Pidgey (Route 1)
  - Evolves into Pidgeotto at level 18 and Pidgeot at 36.
  - Reliable Flying-type attacker for dealing with Bug and Grass Pokémon.
  - Easy to catch and train, making it a staple early-game choice.

- Abra (Wild Areas)
  - Hard to catch (teleports away), but evolves into Kadabra at level 16 and Alakazam via trade.
  - Provides powerful Psychic-type offense, which is rare early on.
  - Worth the effort for long-term utility.

- Shinx (Routes near Lumiose)
  - Evolves into Luxio at level 15 and Luxray at 30.
  - Strong Electric-type attacker, excellent against Flying and Water Pokémon.
  - Easy to train and remains relevant throughout the game.

- Starter Pokémon (Chikorita, Totodile, Tepig)
  - Each starter is viable, but Chikorita is recommended for beginners due to its defensive stats and reliable Grass-type moves early on.

Why These Pokémon Are Great Early Picks
- Fast Evolutions: Weedle, Pidgey, and Abra evolve quickly, giving you stronger options early.
- Type Coverage: Grass (Chikorita), Water (Totodile), Fire (Tepig), Psychic (Abra), Electric (Shinx), Flying (Pidgey), and Bug/Poison (Weedle) cover most early-game threats.
- Accessibility: Found on the first routes or nearby wild areas, so you don't need to grind far into the game.
- Mid-Game Relevance: Luxray, Alakazam, and Pidgeot remain strong even after the early chapters.

Strategy Tip
Pair your starter with one or two of these early Pokémon to balance weaknesses. For example:
- Totodile (Water) + Shinx (Electric) covers Grass and Flying threats.
- Tepig (Fire) + Abra (Psychic) balances offense with special coverage.
- Chikorita (Grass) + Pidgey (Flying) helps against Bug-types.
