Hydromanders have dark green skin with a whitish-yellow belly. They have orange eyes and sharp teeth. They have an orange dorsal fin on their heads, three tentacles on each side of their heads, and a tadpole-like tail. Hydromandars are extremely hostile, especially when someone disturbs them. After waking up, hydromanders begin to eat everything around them. Like true salamanders, they use their tongues to eat. When hydromanders die, many smaller hydromanders emerge from the corpse. Apparently, newborn hydromanders have memories of who they came from.
Hydromanders can breathe and swim underwater, giving them great speed and agility. Hydromandares can extend their tongues over long distances. Their tongues can grab anything and put it in their mouths. If their tongue is injured, it can quickly regenerate inside the mouth. They can also move the tentacles with their head and tail. A hydromander's tongue is more prone to damage or even being cut off while being pulled, but it regenerates. Although they can survive long periods out of water, they quickly become dehydrated when they are on land for long periods of time.
